Anti-Scouting boost

Postby Kaapie » Sun Dec 24, 2017 11:56 am

Hey guys,

I think it would be great if we have an "Anti-Scouting boost" to counter act the Scouting boost. Scouting makes the game too easy. It somewhat takes away the strategy part of the game as you can plan your path with ease + disabling otherwise hidden traps.

I am DCR 102 and take down DCR 200+ with scouting relatively easily. I fully bolster my Dark Library when attacking to get an extra spell in (I have a low mana pool of 500).

If such an anti-scouting Boost is introduced, raiding will be more difficult and it will takes away the fun of raiding. We raid and we are being raided. Moreover, Scouting Boost does not guarantee victory. Having an anti-Scouting Boost will benefit those with lots of cash or gems to burn. Giving these players an unfair advantage.

A good design and well thought placement of traps should be sufficient to make it more difficult for raiders. If we need extra mana (by bolstering of library or refilling of mana) to win a raid, that means it is sufficiently difficult.

Scout unfairly benefits raiders with lots of cash and gems.
You can see all the hidden traps and destroy them before raid.
It is like you get the answer in advance.
I cannot afford scout but I can defeat tough dungeons by strategy.
I often make mistakes and fail but I think of new strategy and win next time.
If you can not win with the answers, what you need is not extra mana. You need a better strategy.

Anti-scout boost will give back players the original fun of this game, "Dig, Device, Dominate".
Do not buy the answers, use strategy.

If you are advocating an anti-scouting, you may as well remove scouting Boost instead of introducing anti-scout?
Does not make sense to spend gems to buy scout and then another buy anti-scouting to counter it! Remove scouting Boost and no raiders need to spend on buying any of them! Which will likely discourage the use of Tiny (as it is highly dependent on scouting Boost). That will be perfect for me as I constantly being raided by tiny! Lol!

The refilling of mana, scouting Boost, First Strike boost, etc are tools which enable a weaker keeper to increase his chances of winning a raid. The chance of a keeper with dcr 50 winning a revenge raid against a dungeon of dcr150 is highly unlikely except for those Sandbaggers with deliberate free path to DH. Losing a raid does not neccessarily imply a poor raiding strategy. The levels of own immortal & minions, opponent’s combat rooms’, traps, minions’ Levels, placement of rooms & traps are all contributing factors. It is not as simple as raiding strategy deciding the outcome of a raid.

Gonjinn,

Removing scout is removing choices.
With anti-scout boot, players have choices to buy scout and anti-scout.

DCR50 is a newbie playing about one month. DCR150 is middle class playing about one year.
It is unfair if DCR50 could easily win DCR150.
Nothing to do with strategy.

When you fail raid, what you can do is limited and simple.
You can think of better strategy for the next time.
Or buy the answer.

Introducing a choice which cancel off another’s one purchased ability is also a form of removing a choice for players who had paid gems to obtain the scouting ability.
What are you talking about?

If scout boost is removed, players have no choice. It is gone.
If we have scout and anti-scout, some players choose to buy scout, some do not.
Also some players choose to buy anti-scout, some do not.
Players have choices.

Currently, there is gap between those who can afford Scouting/First Strike/Premium/Cave-in/Fortification vs those who can’t.
What abt players who can afford both scouting + anti-scouting? They can just skip and target those who can’t afford. Wouldn’t that widen the gap between those who can afford both Scouting+ anti-Scouting vs those who can afford none?
