What are Boosts?

Postby Gene_Mythic » Thu Mar 06, 2014 10:51 pm

Boosts in Dungeon Keeper are ways to augment various aspects of gameplay, usually increasing gains and/or effectiveness of one type, or another.

They are:

DK PREMIUM
DK Premium is one of the more powerful Boosts in the game, increasing your Gold and Stone resource collection from claimed Gold Mine and Stone Quarries, as well as increased mana regeneration from your Dark Library:
  • +40% Mana production from your Dark Library
  • +40% Gold Production from all claimed Gold Mines
  • +40% Stone Production from all claimed Stone Quarries
DK Premium also gives you a competitive edge when you Raid, providing an additional bonus to your winnings at the conclusion of them (including ‘Find Opponent,’ ‘Campaign,’ and ‘Event Raid.’):
  • +40% Gold from Raids
  • +40% Stone from Raids
  • +25% Combat Points from Raids
  • Event/Exclusive Raids-only bonus: 40% more gems earned
How can I obtain a DK Premium boost?
DK Premium is purchasable with Gems, and can be found under the ‘Boost’ menu. DK Premium is available for purchase in 1-, 3- and 7-day increments.

SCOUTING
This Boost reveals all hidden Traps located in your opponent’s Dungeon in ‘Find Opponent’ and ‘Campaign’ raids. This clever Boost, in turn, allows you to strategically determine the entry points into your opponent’s Dungeon, minimizing injury to your invading Minions so that they can better plunder and raze throughout your opponent's Dungeon.

Hidden traps uncovered include: Spike, Spring, Fireburst and Boulder Traps!

How can I obtain a Scouting boost?
If/when your Dungeon is attacked by another player, and you take between 0-49% damage, you are awarded a 1-hour Scouting boost.
If/when your Dungeon is attacked by another player, and you take more than 50% damage, you are awarded a 2-hour Scouting boost.
Scouting is also purchasable with Gems, and can be found under the ‘Boost’ menu. When purchased, Scouting is available in 1-, 3- and 7-day increments.

FORTIFICATION
This Boost helps strengthen your Dungeon’s defenses by increasing the health of your Traps and Rooms by 10%. It also increases the offensive impact of your Rooms and Traps, providing a 10% increase to their damage output.

Defensive benefits:
  • +10% Trap health
  • +10% Room health
Offensive benefits:
  • +10% Trap damage
  • +10% Room damage
Fortification also affects your Minions when they are defending your Dungeon from invading Keepers, and impacts all raid modes including 'Find Opponent', 'Campaign' and 'Event' Raids. Minions receive the following benefits when fighting to protect their home turf:
  • +10% Defending minion damage
  • +10% Defending minion health
  • +10% Defending minion move speed
How can I obtain a Fortification boost?
If/when your Dungeon is attacked by another player, and you take 50-75% damage, you are awarded a 6-hour Fortification boost.
(This is supposed to be awarded for taking more than 50% (up to 100%); this bug is being fixed in the very near future)
Fortification is also purchasable with Gems, and can be found under the ‘Boost’ menu. When purchased, Fortification is available in 1-, 3- and 7-day increments.

FIRST STRIKE
If you love to PvP and destroy other players' Dungeons, this Boost was made for you. First Strike gives you a competitive edge in battle, increasing the Hit Points of your invading Minions, while also increasing their movement speed to more quickly clear nasty Traps, etc. Additionally, their attack damage and your spell damage is increased, allowing you to lay an even bigger smack-down:
  • +10% Attacking minion damage
  • +10% Attacking Minion health
  • +10% Attacking Minion move speed
  • +10% Spell damage
How can I obtain a First Strike boost?
If/when your Dungeon is attacked by another player, and you take between 0-49% damage, you are awarded a 1-hour First Strike boost.
If/when your Dungeon is attacked by another player, and you take more than 50% damage, you are awarded a 2-hour First Strike boost.
First Strike is also purchasable with Gems, and can be found under the ‘Boost’ menu. When purchased, First Strike is available in 1-, 3- and 7-day increments.

CAVE-IN
Need time to plot the perfect Dungeon layout? Want to temporarily keep your riches close to you, and away from the greedy paws of other players? The Cave-In will keep you safe, preventing other Keepers from being able to invade your Dungeon for a time. One important thing to remember, though: if you decide to attack an enemy Keeper before your Cave-In boost has expired, it will be cancelled!

How can I obtain a Cave-In boost?
If/when your Dungeon is attacked by another player, and you take more than 40% damage (recently changed from "more than 50% damage), you are awarded an 8-hour Cave-In boost.
If/when your Dungeon is attacked by another player, and you take 100% damage, you are awarded a 12-hour Cave-In boost.
Cave-In is also purchasable with Gems, and can be found under the ‘Boost’ menu. When purchased, Cave-In is available in 1-, 3- and 7-day increments.
